About This Piece
About This Piece
Black Tourmaline is the black variety of tourmaline, often referred to as schorl in mineralogy. In this ring, it is preserved in a natural cluster form, with elongated crystals growing tightly together to create a darker, more architectural kind of beauty.
What makes black tourmaline especially interesting is its crystal habit. It often forms in long, striated prismatic crystals, which give the surface that directional, structured look. Tourmaline is also known for its pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties, meaning it can develop a small electric charge under heat or pressure — one of the reasons it has fascinated both mineral collectors and gem lovers for so long.
Rather than being cut and polished into a conventional gemstone, this piece keeps more of the mineral’s original texture and crystal growth visible. That raw structure gives it a stronger specimen character, making it feel closer to mineral specimen jewelry than standard black stone jewellery.
Stone Meaning
Stone Meaning
Black Tourmaline is often associated with protection, grounding, stability, and energetic boundaries. Many people are drawn to it when they want to feel more anchored, more clear-headed, or less affected by outside noise.
It is also often linked to strength and steadiness — a stone chosen for support, structure, and a sense of calm resilience.

Stone: Black Tourmaline Cluster / Schorl (Brazil)
Source: Brazil
Formation:
Black tourmaline, or schorl, is a complex borosilicate mineral that commonly forms in igneous and metamorphic environments, especially in granite pegmatites and hydrothermal veins. It typically grows as elongated prismatic crystals with strong vertical striations along the length of the crystal. In cluster form, multiple crystals develop together, producing a dense, radiating or intergrown structure that preserves the mineral’s natural geometry and raw surface texture.
