About This Piece

This ring features a natural Black Tourmaline cluster, also known as Schorl, preserved in its raw mineral specimen form.

Black Tourmaline is one of the most recognizable dark minerals in crystal collecting, known for its long prismatic crystals and strong vertical striations. These natural grooves give the stone an architectural texture — sharp, structured, and almost carved-looking, though the form is created by nature.

For centuries, dark minerals like black tourmaline were often kept as protective stones, valued for their grounding presence and deep, opaque color. Tourmaline is also known for its unusual physical properties: it can develop a small electric charge under heat or pressure, a feature that once made it especially fascinating to early scientists and collectors.

Stone Meaning

Black Tourmaline is often associated with protection, grounding, stability, and energetic boundaries. Many people are drawn to it when they want to feel more anchored, more clear-headed, or less affected by outside noise.

It is also often linked to strength and steadiness — a stone chosen for support, structure, and a sense of calm resilience.

Details

Stone: Black Tourmaline Cluster / Schorl
Source: China

Formation:
Black Tourmaline, also known as Schorl, is an iron-rich borosilicate mineral that commonly forms in granite pegmatites, metamorphic rocks, and hydrothermal veins. It crystallizes in the trigonal system and often develops as elongated prismatic crystals with strong vertical striations along the surface. Its deep black colour is mainly linked to its iron-rich composition. In cluster form, multiple crystals grow closely together, creating the dense, intergrown structure and raw architectural texture that make Schorl especially recognizable in mineral collections.

Ring material: Brass with silver-tone finish.
Alternative finishes and sterling silver versions may be available upon request, depending on the design.
