About This Piece

This mineral specimen features clear quartz crystals growing over a green chlorite-rich matrix, sourced from the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh in the Indian Himalayas.

The formation began with the deposition of fine chlorite minerals, which settled along the surface of the host rock under low-temperature hydrothermal conditions. This created the soft green base layer that remains visible beneath the crystal growth.

As silica-rich fluids later entered the same environment, quartz began to crystallize over this earlier surface. The crystals developed outward from the matrix, forming a cluster of prismatic points that remain partially anchored to the chlorite layer.

Unlike chlorite inclusions enclosed within quartz, the green material here acts as a growth surface rather than an internal feature, allowing both minerals to remain visually distinct.

Specimens from the Kullu region are often noted for this type of layered formation, where successive mineral phases are preserved in a single piece, recording changes in the growth environment over time.

Stone Meaning

Quartz is often associated with clarity and steadiness, while chlorite is commonly linked to growth, renewal, and a connection to natural cycles.

Together, they are often seen as a balance between clarity and grounding — something that supports both focus and stability.

Many people are drawn to this combination for its quiet contrast: something clear rising above, with something deeper and more rooted beneath.

Care

Because this piece features natural mineral crystals, gentle care will help preserve its structure:
• Avoid dropping or strong impact — crystals can be fragile
• Keep away from prolonged moisture or direct water exposure
• Avoid contact with chemicals or cleaning agents
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve the natural color
• Store or display in a stable, dry environment
Clean gently with a soft, dry brush or cloth if needed
