About This Piece
About This Piece
A butterfly-shaped ring made with polished labradorite from India and raw chalcopyrite from China. The labradorite stones form the wings, showing flashes of blue, grey, and gold as they catch the light, while the raw chalcopyrite at the center adds a metallic golden mineral texture.
Labradorite is known for its optical effect called labradorescence — the shifting glow that appears beneath the surface of the stone. According to Inuit legend, labradorite was once believed to hold the light of the Aurora Borealis, which is part of why it is often associated with mystery and hidden light.
Chalcopyrite has its own mineral history. As a copper iron sulfide with a warm metallic shine, it was often mistaken for gold and became known as “fool’s gold.” Unlike polished metal, raw chalcopyrite keeps a rugged, reflective surface that flashes between gold, bronze, and darker tones.
What makes this ring special is the contrast: luminous labradorite wings with a raw golden mineral center. It feels like a butterfly built from hidden light and earth-born metal — magical, grounded, and quietly powerful.
Stone Meaning
Stone Meaning
Labradorite is often associated with transformation, intuition, protection, and inner strength. Its shifting blue glow gives the ring a mysterious, reflective feeling, often linked with change and self-discovery.
Chalcopyrite is commonly connected with confidence, vitality, opportunity, and forward movement. Together, the two stones create a piece that feels symbolic and grounded — a butterfly of light, change, and quiet strength.
Details
Details
Stone: Labradorite (India), Chalcopyrite (China)
Formation:
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral formed in igneous rocks. Its blue flash, known as labradorescence, appears when light interacts with fine internal lamellar structures created during crystal growth and cooling.
Chalcopyrite is a copper iron sulfide mineral that forms in hydrothermal veins and other sulfide-rich geological environments. Its metallic golden surface comes from its copper and iron content, giving it its distinctive brassy appearance.
Ring material: Brass with silver-tone finish.
Alternative finishes and sterling silver versions may be available upon request, depending on the design.
