Formation:
Phantom Quartz forms when a quartz crystal’s growth is interrupted, often by changes in temperature, pressure, or mineral availability, and then resumes later. During that pause, inclusions or a thin layer of minerals may settle on the crystal surface. When growth begins again, the earlier shape becomes enclosed inside the new crystal, creating the visible “phantom” effect.
