Formation:
Phantom Quartz is a variety of quartz in which earlier growth stages remain visible inside the crystal. These “phantom” forms develop when crystal growth is interrupted by changes in temperature, chemistry, or the presence of mineral inclusions, and later resumes, sealing earlier outlines within new quartz growth. Herkimer Diamond Quartz is a naturally double-terminated variety of quartz composed of silicon dioxide, valued for its pointed ends, geometric form, and high clarity. In this ring, the Phantom Quartz has been polished into a sphere to highlight its internal structure, while the Herkimer Diamond Quartz is left closer to its natural crystal form, preserving its sharp edges and raw light-reflective character.
