Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral that forms in a wide range of geological settings, including hydrothermal veins and limestone-associated environments. In specimens from Daye, pyrite may occur across or alongside calcite, creating contrasting textures between metallic sulfide growth and layered carbonate crystal development.
