Prehnite is a calcium aluminium silicate mineral that often forms in cavities and fractures of volcanic rocks through hydrothermal activity. Historically, prehnite is also known as one of the first minerals named after a person — Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, who introduced it to Europe in the 18th century.
