Creedite is a calcium aluminium sulfate fluoride mineral that typically forms in the oxidized zones of fluorine-rich hydrothermal mineral deposits. It crystallizes in slender prismatic to acicular crystals, which often grow in radiating clusters, sprays, or rounded aggregates. This outward, starburst-like habit is one of its most recognizable features. Specimens may appear colorless, white, lavender, orange, or pale green depending on trace elements and growth conditions, and fine intergrowths can give the surface a soft, sparkling texture.
