About This Piece
About This Piece
A bold two-stone ring pairing raw ruby (Red Corundum), the red variety of corundum, with iridescent carborundum. The ruby keeps its natural granular crystal texture and vivid red tone, while the carborundum brings a darker metallic surface with flashes of blue, violet, green, and steel-like light.
Ruby (Red Corundum) has been treasured for centuries across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, often admired for its intense color, durability, and association with status and vitality. As red corundum, ruby belongs to the same mineral family as sapphire, with its color caused by trace chromium.
Carborundum, by contrast, has a more modern story. It is the common name for crystalline silicon carbide, a material known for extreme hardness and industrial brilliance. Together, the two create a striking contrast: ancient gemstone energy beside futuristic metallic iridescence.

Details
Details
Stone: Ruby (Red Corundum), Carborundum
Source: China; Carborundum is typically lab-created silicon carbide
Formation:
Ruby is the red variety of corundum, an aluminium oxide mineral coloured primarily by trace chromium. It forms under high-temperature geological conditions, commonly in metamorphic rocks and some igneous environments. Carborundum is the trade name commonly used for crystalline silicon carbide, a material produced under extremely high heat. Its dark metallic body and rainbow-like surface reflect its crystal structure and the way light interacts with it.
Ring material: Brass with silver-tone finish.
Alternative finishes and sterling silver versions may be available upon request, depending on the design.
