Tiger’s Eye is a chatoyant variety of quartz, formed through the replacement and alteration of fibrous mineral material within the stone. Its golden-brown bands and silky optical effect come from fine parallel fibers that reflect light in a moving line across the polished surface. When cut as cabochons, this natural chatoyancy becomes more visible, creating the distinctive “eye” effect.
